A Kennedy Says No

Another member of the third generation of the storied Kennedy family has taken a pass on a bid for public office.  Edward M. Kennedy, Jr. told reporters in Bridgeport last night that he will not seek the 2012 Democratic nomination for the United States Senate from Connecticut.

The Branford Democrat had been touted as a contender by a segment of activist Democrats unhappy with the choice offered by a race between Congressman Christopher Murphy and former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz.  There may also have been a touch of nostalgia informing their enthusiasm during the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy.
