Catherine Marx Still Standing in GOP Contest. by Healy218 http://www.dailyructions.com/catherine-marx-still-standing-in-gop-contest/comment-page-1/#comment-5574 Fri, 17 Jun 2011 14:33:25 +0000 http://www.dailyructions.com/?p=3061#comment-5574 I think the real reason that Catherine Marx did not succumb to the Aniskovich movement is that she realized she wouldn’t get any plumb post or positiong with the CT GOP if Bill had won. Supporting Aniskovich would have only meant that she’d assure herself of no active role in the new administration in New Britain.

Comment on Aniskovich Withdraws. by Mitch Beck http://www.dailyructions.com/aniskovich-withdraws/comment-page-1/#comment-5569 Thu, 16 Jun 2011 21:25:13 +0000 http://www.dailyructions.com/?p=3058#comment-5569 I think it is an exceptionally good thing as a Republican that Bill stepped aside.

Whether you believe him or you don’t believe him is irrelevant. The perception (and I don’t think I need to explain about perception being reality) is that there were things to be concerned about by Republicans and left a door open for Democrats.

At a time when Democrats are ripe to be tossed out of control of both houses for the first time since the 50’s, the Party cannot afford ANY perception or distraction to take hold.

Katherine Marks does not provide a distraction and is a strong and intelligent person who deserves the chance to run our Party and lead us to victory in November.

But the bottom line on all of this is that if we on the ground and in leadership in our own RTC’s don’t get active and work together towards the same ends, it won’t really matter who’s the chair and who isn’t.

Thank you Bill for thinking about more than just yourself and doing the right thing. I hope you will still commit to working at helping advance the Party in the areas that you are good at.

Can they and/or will they reenter the race or do the Republican rules prevent them from reentering?

Comment on Democrats Relish Return of Aniskovich. by Observer http://www.dailyructions.com/democrats-relish-return-of-aniskovich/comment-page-1/#comment-5567 Thu, 16 Jun 2011 12:50:01 +0000 http://www.dailyructions.com/?p=3056#comment-5567 You’re right, those aren’t unimportant. If Stonington Institute has state contracts, that will seriously hamper his ability to raise money if he wins the election. “Unrepentant” support for Rowland has its ups and downs, in that it shows loyalty but also a blind eye to corruption.

That’s not the headline of this article, however. The headline was all about dragging a family’s private business through the mud. A story on Rowland or Stonington Institute alone would have been just fine.

If this was just about adultery, then I would agree with you, it’s none of our business. But it goes beyond that. If he had inappropriate relations with an intern, then it’s a gross abuse of power. Most of the interns at the state capitol are young college kids. If he had inappropriate relations with a lobbyist, then there are grave ethical implications.

And finally, there is the Stonington mess and his unrepentant support for John Rowland. As party chairman, how will he have any authority at all when it comes to calling out Democrats for their inevitable ethical and moral lapses?

Kevin raises fair questions that, apparently, no one else in the party power structure cares about.

He’s not running for public office. He’s running for the head of a party. Besides, does anyone really think that Aniskovich is the only man (or woman) in the General Assembly who had an affair?

Give the man and his family a break. How would you feel to have your family’s dirty laundry aired on the front page of the Hartford Courant? His kids are teenagers, for crying out loud.

Linda has proved she can not win. Let’s give someone with fresh ideas a chance.

How can she help the party? She is part of the Healy past – and look – what did he do? What did he win? Let’s look at this Gov. – No, Sec – No, Treas – No, Comptroller – No, Congress – No , Senate – NO . As for the House Republicans they all won on their own. He was cashing in a on campaign his wife should had never been on.
