Curiouser and Curiouser. Wilson-Foley Releases Rowland’s Consulting Contract–With Branford Lawyer.

Lisa Wilson-Foley’s mess got messier Wednesday afternoon when the Republican congressional candidate released a contract purporting to be the consulting agreement between her family nursing home business and disgraced former Governor John Rowland. The document, however, is between Rowland and a Branford law office, Law Offices of Christian B. Shelton, LLC. The deal provided $30,000 for six months of consulting that began on October 1, 2012 and continued through March 31, 2012.

Rowland was to receive $5,000 a month for no fewer than 2 meeting a month with the law office or its designee.

What an odd arrangement for Rowland to provide consulting for a lawyer. He spent a lot of time with NJ DWI defense lawyers when he was the subject of a federal criminal investigation. Perhaps that’s what Brian Foley meant in his statement that hailed “the former governor’s unique skill set….”

UPDATE: Chris Shelton of Branford donated $500 to Wilson-Foley’s 2010 campaign for lieutenant governor. He disclosed his employer as Apple Health Care, Inc. More intriguing, Law Offices of Christian B. Shelton, Esq, LLC received a $300 reimbursement from Wilson-Foley’s campaign committee on May 14, 2010 for a “Voter Database CD,” according to her campaign finance report, suggesting Attorney Shelton is more involved in the details of politics than the typical nursing home employee.
