Democratic State Representative Roldan to Face Primary in 4th.

State Representative Kelvin Roldan will face a primary challenger in the 4th Assembly District should the three term Democrat seek re-election. Roldan detractors, who showed their strength in a Democratic Town Committee primary this year by drubbing Roldan and every member of his slate, are expected to rally around Angel Arce, Daily Ructions has learned.

Roldan defeated Arce (716-406) in a 2006 Democratic primary when the seat opened in 2006. Long shot challenger Angel Morales stunned Roldan in 2010 when he came within 6 votes of tipping over the incumbent, who enjoys a notoriously plush employment deal with the city’s Board of Education. While Roldan beat Arce six years ago, the worm has turned. Arce placed first in the recent DTC primary in which Roldan, funded mostly by lobbyists, suffered an embarrassing loss.
