Do They Ever Learn? Donovan Finance Report Shows Nothing Paid or Owed Twardy Firm.

Former U.S. Attorney Stanley Twardy has fallen behind has fallen behind on his billings, according to the pre-primary finance report of the Donovan for Congress committee. Twardy headed a team of nine lawyers who in June and early July reviewed 30,000 documents in preparing a report on campaign finance abuses within Speaker of the House Christopher Donovan’s congressional campaign. Twardy, however, was unable to interview key players in the federal investigation of the connection between illegal campaign contributions and legislation that has holed below the waterline Speaker of the House Chris Donovan’s campaign. Twardy concluded Donovan had no knowledge of the alleged conspiracy to violate federal campaign finance laws that has resulted in eight arrests.

Twardy released his short report of the Donovan campaign finance scandal on July 5th. The most recent Donovan campaign finance report does not include any payments to Twardy’s law firm, Day Pitney. The report, which covers July 1st through July 25th, has zero for “Any Debts and Obligations Owed BY the Committee.” Donovan, who likes to bang on about championing changes in campaign finance laws, must know that a campaign, especially his beleaguered one, needs to make a good-faith effort to provide complete information.

With nothing paid to Twardy, Donovan reported $377,060.19 on hand for the final days of the primary campaign that ends on August 14th.
