Finley Out at CCM. Public Tagged for Hundreds of Thousands After Investigation.
James Finley’s contract as CEO of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities has not been renewed. The organization will have to pay Finley hundreds of thousands in compensation and benefits, Daily Ructions has learned, but it expects some savings in fewer wrecked cars.
Finley, seen urinating on the sidewalk in Hartford last spring, had a lucrative contract with CCM that provides generous severance and ten years of health benefits. An investigation, prompted a Daily Ructions post, caused board members they had little alternative to ending Finley’s position at the association of cities and towns that lobbies for higher state spending and municipal assistance.
Municipal leaders, whose taxpayers foot much of the bill at CCM, should demand that the investigation and separation agreement be made public. Local leaders and the people they represent have a right to know what calamities were inflicted on the organization by leaders who failed to exercise their obligation of oversight.
