Greenberg: Wilson-Foley Brochure Does Not Include a Single True Sentence.

Lisa Wilson-Foley has gone all Lillian Hellman in her most recent hit piece on rival Mark Greenberg (cast as Mary McCarthy) in the 5th Congressional District Republican race. According to Greenberg’s campaign, Wilson-Foley’s claims about the Litchfield developer’s taxes are not true. He does not owe any taxes, as her unsubstantiated mailer that hit voters today claims.

The language, much like Stalinist Hellman’s, is rooted in falsehoods, according to Greenberg. It features none of the usual citations that voters have come to expect when candidates make incendiary charges. The brochure shouts, “MARK GREENBERG Owes $600,00 in Back Taxes. From his home to his businesses, courts across Connecticut are filing liens against Mark Greenberg for shady business deals and unpaid taxes.” There are no unpaid taxes and courts do not file liens.

Wilson-Foley has been running an ad admonishing her rivals for criticizing her support of Obamacare, which she supported in her 201o bid for lieutenant governor. Wilson-Foley tells viewers she wants to concentrate on big issues. The ad must have been filmed before the Simsbury bowling alley operator unleashed her late attack on the rising Greenburg. Should she win on Tuesday, Wilson-Foley will find party unity elusive.

The incensed Greenberg campaign is using Wilson-Foley’s “desperate house lies” to spur supporters in their GOTV effort.

Here’s the mailer.
