Mrs. McMahon Opens Fire, Begins Vietnam Offensive.
You think it’s hot outside? Check your mailbox. Republican United States Senate candidate Linda McMahon has unleashed a scorching attack on opponent Richard Blumenthal’s false statements about his military service that have shadowed the attorney general’s campaign since they were reported by The New York Times in May.
The brochure, which declares on the front, “Honor Demands Truth” and identifies itself as “An Important Message From Veterans For McMahon” can be seen in full in this pdf: McMahon Vets Attack Blumenthal. The piece includes a message to Mr. Blumenthal from 46 veterans. The tone is aggressive regret. It includes the explosive phrase sentence, “You’ve lied.” The veterans accuse the 5-term attorney general and Marine Reserves veteran of being “dishonest” and “dishonorable.”
The piece also continues the theme of the McMahon campaign that “Dick Blumenthal Is Not Who We Thought He Was.” We’ll find out how much of a fighter he is when we see his response to this barrage, which will no doubt be accompanied by television commercials. Mr. Blumenthal needs to come out of his foxhole and engage.

Has a member of the McMahon family ever even served in the military?
And if we want to talk about lies, please don’t leave out Tom Foley’s lying to the government about his multiple arrests….
Has a member of the McMahon family ever lied about having served in the military?
HUGE DIFFERENCE.
Also, Foley satisfied a background check and was granted a clearance. Had his answers to the questionnaire been considered dishonest, he most certainly would not have been approved.
As I always say though…..don’t let facts get in the way of a good attack.
Anderson, if you had any idea what you are talking about, you would know that Tom Foley is legally entitled to swear that he has never been arrested in Connecticut. I’d refer you to section 52-142a(e) of the General Statutes but you’re likely such a moron that you wouldn’t be able to find it without help. Have fun rooting for Ned Lamont, maybe he’ll beat Joe in 2012.
Hey, Debra, there 100, not 50, senators. I, too, would like to know where Linda stands on some issues, but, in my book, Blumenthal has put a major stain on his career with all these “misspeaks.” He was trying to feather his nest and got caught. That’s the kind of investigative senator that I want representing me. The GA might have done some worthwhile things in his day, but this “misspeaking” is a big, big negative. Can’t really trust anyone who can’t speak truthfully about something as sacred as military service.
Yes, everyone in Connecticut knows that Blumenthal, had spoken loosely and misleadingly about his stateside service in the Marine Reserves during the Vietnam War. Yes, and Hillary Clinton once claimed she landed in Bosnia in a hail of anti-aircraft fire. And Ronald Reagan hallucinated that he helped liberate a concentration camp, rather than participating in the making of civilian propaganda films during World War II.
The McMahon attack ads play one sour note, get a life Linda. You haven’t earned anyones vote. You might address your written misstatements concerning your college degree on State Education Commission documents.
Foley screwed up the Iraq economy and cost American lives for the decisions he made there; McMahon has four more dead wrestlers just during her Senate campaign. I cant wait to see how these two further screw up the state and federal government. Come out and admit that you’re running simply to block any further discussion of a millionaires tax.
Request to the McMahon campaign: I wish that you’d print the attack ads on plane paper, they would be a lot better toilet paper.
Has anyone in the McMahon family ever lied about serving in the military? Really, Truthseeker, you need to do some research.
No one in the Blumenthal family has lied about serving in the military either. Fact: Dick Blumenthal served proudly in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Neither Linda or VINCE did anything for the military, especially serve. Fact: Dick Blumenthal has worked for veterans’ organizations for 20+ years. Linda and VINCE have done nothing for veterans.
Fact: Linda McMahon LIED on a notarized document regarding her college degree. WHY? Because she wanted to be placed on the State Board of Education. WHY? Because she thought it would add to her creds to run for the Senate. Important? YES!! Because she had to send Jodi Rell a “retraction” and it is documented. She has consistently done the same thing she accuses Blumenthal of doing; yet her lack of class and consistent attack ads allow people who are LOW INFORMATION VOTERS to ignore her negatives. Look it up if you really care about what being an American means.
“I wish that you’d print the attack ads on plane paper”
As opposed to what, train paper or automobile paper?
heard it before, you are a dumbass.
Pat you need to do some research yourself, the FACT is Dick Blumenthal LIED about serving in Vietnam on NUMEROUS occasions. You left that glaring FACT out of your diatribe.
I like Dick Blumenthal but why did he lie on numerous occasions saying he served in Vietnam? I personally don’t care much about it but MANY, MANY other people do.
Viet Nam happened a lifetime ago. I care about today and tomorrow. I want people representing me who actually listen to their constituents and try to do what’s right for them. I want people representing me who have a higher regard for people than they do for money. I want people representing me who are knowledgeable, committed, passionate about what they do for the people they serve.
Linda McMahon is none of the above.
What about the FIVE deferments that Blumenthal got before he was notified that no one working in the White House would get a draft deferment ? A real Washington outsider there.I remember how Bush was continuously ridiculed in the press for his Texas Air Guard service,Funny how no one is asking Dick exactly what he did in the Washington DC Marine Reserve unit .I’d like to know more about rebuilding porches and the Toys For Tots campaign .Yes,this was years ago,but it shows a pattern of privilege, sort of like John Kerry, hero of Vietnam ,getting 3 Purple Heart Medals(for being wounded in action) without being admitted to a military hospital for 1 hour, let alone a day. It’s easy for Blumenthal to drive around the state in a state vehicle, with a state driver, showing how much he cares. His wife’s family has just as much money as McMahon’s,but the Hartford Pravda,I mean Courant ,won’t print that.
Prove to me you really want to be senator,Dick. Resign as AG and run full time,on your own time.It is bad enough that every state taxpayer is now a contributor to the Malloy campaign, thanks to a Democratic party line veto override. Why should we pay for him to run for Senator and be,at best, a part time Attorney General ?
Jim,
Unlike Linda McMahon Dick Blumenthal isn’t using his family’s money to try and buy a seat in the United States Senate.
But it was OK for little Neddy Lamont to try to buy a senate seat and democratic nomination for govenor with his inheritance ? You can’t have it both ways.
No it wasn’t and, by the way, it didn’t work either time.
