New UConn President To Be Announced Monday. Favorite: Susan Herbst of Georgia

Susan Herbst, Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer for the University System of Georgia, and Professor of Public Policy at Georgia Tech, is the frontrunner to win the University of Connecticut presidential search committee’s recommendation to the board of trustees Monday, Daily Ructions has learned.  Herbst, the author of Rude Democracy: Civility and Incivility in American Politics, is one of three finalists in the search for a new president to succeed Michael Hogan who left UConn for the University of Illinois after a short tenure in Storrs.

The board of trustees has scheduled a meeting for Monday afternoon.

If Herbst is chosen and accepts the job, the Duke and University of Southern California graduate would be the first woman to lead the University of Connecticut.

Strange: “Hometown: I was born in New York City, and then my parents moved a little farther north on the Hudson River. I grew up there.” Why not identify the town?
