Roldan-Perez Restoration Campaign Squeezing Lobbyists and City Contractors.

State Representative Kelvin Roldan, heir to the disgraced legacy of felon and former Hartford mayor Eddie Perez, has turned to state lobbyists for funding of his exploratory bid for citywide office.  Roldan’s committee, which raised $35,083.50 in the first first quarter of the year, received $2,775 from 22 registered lobbyists.  The campaign also took in $3,775 from people with contracts with Hartford in excess of $5,000. Contractor relatives kicked in another $1,500.

Few of the lobbyists and contractors listed live in Hartford. Roldan’s base of support, wherever it is, may not reside in Hartford.  He was nearly tossed out of his seat last year in a primary battle with a fellow Democrat who was lugging a lot of baggage. Of the 167 contributors with addresses included on Roldan’s finance report, only 23 are from Hartford.
