Tong Fundraising Stalls. Senate Candidate’s Take Plummets in His Second Quarter in the Race.

State Representative William Tong has run out of tony Renbrook School classmates to help fund his long shot bid for the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate. After a fast start in the second fundraising quarter (his first in the race) Tong puts a paltry $155,000 on the board for the period that concluded on September 30th.  The Stamford Democrat has been burning through cash faster than he’s raised it, an ominous sign this early in a marquee race. He has only $350,000 on-hand of the $725,000 he’s raised since entering the race.

Tong harbors high hopes for a breakthrough in an early televised debate with Democratic opponents Susan Bysiewicz and Christopher Murphy, Daily Ructions has heard.  If fundraising does not pick up in the last quarter of the year, often a truncated period due to holidays, Tong may not make it to the center stage.
