Whoops. Another Major Campaign Finance Blunder by Donovan Campaign.
Speaker of the House Christopher Donovan makes another unforced error. The 5th Congressional District hopeful can’t get his campaign finances right, even when under the scrutiny of federal law enforcement authorities. Donovan failed to report the $84,000 that it cost to have former U.S. Attorney Stanley Twardy to conduct a risible investigation into the campaign’s alleged connivance to arrange and accept nearly $30,000 in illegal contributions in exchange for influencing a proposal before the legislature this year.
Donovan’s mandatory pre-parimary campaign finance report to the FEC left out the $84,000 Twardy charged to put a large team of expensive lawyers on the Donovan case. It seems incredible that Donovan and his campaign aides would not have noticed the omission in the report before it was filed.
