Middletown Prosecutor Arrested Saturday for Drunk Driving, Commits Suicide in Glastonbury.

Tragic news from law enforcement.  Middletown State’s Attorney John Cashman was discovered dead Tuesday behind a CVS pharmacy in Glastonbury. Cashman had been arrested for driving under the influence on Saturday night in Glastonbury and was released.  He did not show up for work at the Middletown courthouse Monday.

Cashman was a police officer who went to law school while serving on the force.  He became a prosecutor in the late 1980s.

UPDATE: Cashman was stopped by Glastonbury police on Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury on Saturday night.  He did not call anyone to pick him up from the station, instead waiting 4 hours to be released from police custody.  He left the station on foot and walked on Main Street, disappearing behind the CVS pharmacy, where he was found on Tuesday. He had been reported missing on Monday.
