An Anecdote on Absentee Ballots
In the 2006 epic race for the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate, South Windsor was a bellwether town. Statewide and in South Windsor, Ned Lamont won 52% of the vote, Joe Lieberman 48%.
With only a few days left to request, receive and return absentee ballots, the numbers from South Windsor provide another indication that interest in this year’s primary contests is far below the 2006 contest. Four years ago, 193 Democrats cast absentee ballots, according to Democratic Registrar of Voters Sue Larsen. As of this this morning, 92 Democratic ballots had been returned to the Town Clerk’s office.
Turnout in South Windsor for the 2006 Democratic primary was a few points above the state average.
On the Republican side, 46 of the party’s 3,321 active registered members have returned absentee ballots.

If Republicans have returned 46 absentee ballots and have 3321 active registrants, and Democrats have returned 92-
How many active Democrat registrants are listed?
Without that comparison, we have no idea what this looks like.
There are 3321 active Republicans in South Windsor.
Good answer Kevin.. He asked how many DEMOCRATS, not Republicans.
Braemar, once again Kevin thinks he knows what he’s talking about but he really doesn’t. His 3321 active Republican number is from October of 2009 which he took from the Secretary of the State’s website here:

I can guarantee you that the number is different today then it was nine months ago. The number of active Democrats in South Windsor in October of 2009 was 5845.
EdM,
You count of Dems seems about right. We haven’t seen a major change over the past 6 months. We may have picked up about 60 – 70 new Dems during the period.
However I am hearing that a decent number of people are switching from U to D (or R) so they can vote in the primaries. That to me is a more interesting number than the absentee ballot count.
