At Last, Senator Christopher J. Dodd Appears in a Senate Ad. He Won’t Like It.
Republican Linda McMahon ties Democrat Richard Blumenthal to the Countrywide/Bank of America subprime mortgage catastrophe with her latest ad. Senator Christopher J. Dodd (D-Bank of America) makes a grim appearance for historical context. Word has reached Daily Ructions that Mr. Blumenthal was rankled by The Nation magazine’s piece about his Countrywide/Bank of America blunder that will cost taxpayers billions in the sorting out of state actions against the merged mortgage giants. The Nation’s brainy article on the mess provides the ordnance for the McMahon 60-second spot.
Senator Dodd, a favorite Countrywide customer and campaign donation recipient, will find this discordant exit music as he leaves the stage after 30 years in the United States Senate.

Great ad, but I still don’t know why they aren’t hammering the insurance rates. Put an ad together pointing out what a disaster Obamacare is, how Blumenthal proudly supported it, and that he blindly supported party leadership some 98% of the time in the state senate.
Then make the obvious statement: voters can elect someone to rubber stamp whatever Obama throws out there, even if it’s bad for CT (Obamacare, cap and trade). Or they can elect someone who will put a stop to it.
They should have been running an ad like that for the past month.
A discordant exit for Mr. Dodd?
I think he should consider himself fortunate not to be indicted. Of course, who is going to indict him? Eric Holder? Richard Blumenthal? Not a chance. He’s one of the leaders of their cabal.
The CT voters are getting wary of having Blumenthal in the Senate. Richard is tied solidly with Dodd. Blumenthal has avoided any hint of looking into Dodd’s slimy deals with Mozillo at Countrywide nor the circumstances under which Dodd acquired an estate on an Island in Ireland, which, on Congressional records, he values it at a measly $100,000. Dodd has made millions in profits in the Senate. Shall we say Dodd put profits before taxpayers? Blumenthal may well come under criminal investigation for his part in the BofA/Countrywide settlement. How he could not have been aware, and prevented such an event is not credible. Blumenthal may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, certainly he didn’t become AG for his legal skills, but he was in the Washington loop and fully aware of the Obama regime’s way of helping their friends at Countrywide. Will Blumenthal’s defense be based on stupidity?
This ad is an absolute waste of McMahon’s money but more impportantly her time. Money she has; time is dwindling. Won’t move a vote.
