Bike Trail Champion Endorses Donovan in 5th District.

Simsbury First Selectman Mary Messina Glassman has endorsed Speaker of the House Christopher Donovan in the race for the Democratic nomination in the Fifth Congressional District.  Glassman, who was roundly defeated by Nancy Wyman in last year’s Democratic primary for lieutenant governor, praised the Meriden Democrat, saying, “We need a leader like Chris Donovan to stand up to the special interests in Washington.”

Glassman was the unsuccessful Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in 2006.  She fell far short in fundraising and delegates in her 2010 bid for governor and joined Ned Lamont as his running mate, only to be trounced by Wyman. Glassman enjoyed a series of well-paid jobs at the State Capitol between stints running the affluent Hartford suburb.

Donovan faces Elizabeth Esty, Dan Roberti and Mike Williams in the contest for the Democratic congressional nomination for the seat being vacated by incumbent Christopher Murphy.
