Blumenthal-McMahon in Dead Heat.
Rasmussen releases an overnight poll showing Attorney General Richard Blumenthal only three points (48-45) ahead of Republican hopeful Linda McMahon in the race for the United States Senate. The beleaguered Democrat leads Republican Rob Simmons by 11 points.
Blumenthal’s embellishments of his military service record, Rasmussen reports, matter somewhat to more than half of the voters surveyed (53%), while 27% say it’s very important to them. The survey will boost the spirits of delegates to the state Republican state convention, which chooses a nominee Friday night. Democrats, also meeting Friday, will fret about how those numbers will change when McMahon turns her pocketbook on Blumethal’s dissembling and starts firing the television spots. “Incoming!” may be the cry heard most when the Democrats gather and drill nearby in Hartford.
Expect to see a lot of flags unfurled at both convocations.

There are those who would say Blumenthal is a piece of work, but I would prefer to think of Blumenthal as a body of work. No one in Connecticut has stood up straighter than he for consumers, be it smoking, insurance or dozens of other scams that have come down the pike. No public figure has stood up for veterans as consistently as Blumenthal. His public service record is unimpeachable.
There-in lies the problem. On too many occasions he apparently got carried away by the moment and extended his Marine yeaars to include Vietnam service. Not good, and corrrectly worthy of chastizement. But I have seen and heard numerous occasions where he claims only to have served during the Vietnam years, acknowledging that he had not seen action, but fostering his deep concern for the mistreatment these veterans received.
One can rest assured that upon his election as Senator, he will continue to stand arm in arm with those veterans and in efforts to afford them every benefit they have earned.
Interestingly enough, the Courant has a great op-ed piece about Linda McMahon written by Michael Benoit, father of Chris Benoit.
Maybe the media should start digging deeper into her background.
As much as I want to dismiss Richard Blumenthal, I certainly would hate to see Linda McMahon get the Republican nomination over Rob Simmons.

Same here. Simmons is — by far — the better candidate. McMahon is a loon. Simmons can and is taken seriously by real Americans. McMahon can only get up in the polls so far with her background.
That is unless you can find footage of him belting his own son in the privates. Things will be even if Linda can dig that up.
