Bysiewicz Has Plans After Denying Them.

Perpetual candidate and former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is expected to form a committee to mount a run for the 2012 Democratic nomination for the United States Senate seat held by 4-term incumbent Joseph Lieberman, according to The Hartford Courant.  Bysiewicz was a candidate for governor at the start of 2010 but switched to a misbegotten bid for attorney general after incumbent Richard Blumenthal announced he’s run for the seat abandoned by Christopher Dodd.  The state’s highest court ruled in May Bysiewicz did not meet the statutory requirements to serve as attorney general.

Bysiewicz ran into heavy weather last year over revelations that she used her office to compile a database of Democrats that included personal notations including illnesses and religious affiliations of her marks.  The information was then provided to her ongoing political operation.

The state’s chief election official left office on January 5th, two months after making a mess of the close count in the race for governor after Bridgeport failed to have enough ballots for voters.  The ambassador of democracy compounded her reputation for incompetence when she declared Democrat and Working Families candidate Dan Malloy the winner over Republican Tom Foley before many local officials had provided totals to her office.

Late last week, Bysiewicz told The CT Mirror that she did not “have any immediate plans to do anything.”  Her about-face will deal another blow to her tattered reputation for candor and veracity.
