Cheng to teach at WCSU. Announcement to be made much anticipated before best practices report released.

Terrence Cheng, the former head of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU), will begin teaching at Western Connecticut State University this fall, Daily Ructions has learned.

Cheng was ousted from his position as chancellor a year ago after state audits prompted by media reports raised questions about Cheng’s misuse of his state credit card and housing allowance. The former University of Connecticut director of the Stamford campus and tenured English faculty member was given a yearlong advisory position to the Board of Regents to write a report on best practices for public higher education. That year will end next week.

Cheng has been paid more than $400,000 for the report. It has yet to be released.

The published novelist used the past year to seek a job, according to one report that examined a sample of the emails he sent from his state account. Some of Cheng’s former colleagues gave candid assessments of him when contacted by prospective employers.

Public higher education leaders in Connecticut are guaranteed lucrative landings within the system when they leave. Cheng’s new teaching position was included in his CSCU contract. It included Cheng naming the school at which he would teach.

Cheng appears to have been feeling put upon by his reversal of fortune. He recently hinted at his resentment with a LinkedIn post on a controversy at George Madison University:
