Chris Healy Seeking Re-election as Republican State Chairman.
Colorful Connecticut Republican State Chairman Chris Healy is telling supporters and others that he will seek a third term, Daily Ructions can confirm. Healy has been making calls today, a day after returning from a party conference in Texas.
Until today, Healy had not been expected to run. His emerging chief rival is former state Senator William Aniskovich. He has not made a formal announcement, but Aniskovich is making the rounds at the State Capitol this afternoon.

This is terrible news for the Connecticut Republican party. Healy is a laughing stock, and is inhibiting rebuilding by turning off local town committees. He should simply go away and stop dragging the party down.
This is great news as the prospects lining for the job have no experience and are either simpletons or nay sayers or in the case of one just plain nuts!
Healy is CT’S Rino Wrangler….suppotring all moderate candidates…like Peckinpaugh…while his wife had a PAID position on Lynda McMahon’s capmpaign. CT will not win any of the 5 congressional seats with the same Ct gop team in place from 2010.

Chris Healy is a complete disgrace. He has abused his position as party chairman at the harm of the party. Given that town committees re-elected two people to State Central that donated to Democrats while on State Central (Dennis Cleary of Wolcott and Bill Jenkins of Chaplin) plus elected Chris Murphy donor Lisa W. Foley to State Central shows the people in charge of the party do not care a lick about it.
The GOP is cemented as a minority party in Connecticut and a Healy re-election guarantees it.
Chris Healy is absolutely what our party needs. He is a brilliant strategist. He is an outspoken advocate for our issues. He is a champion for the cause. Our Grand Party needs a leader like Chris. Let’s keep him – if he’s not broken we don’t need a fix.
Sean Murphy, I respect your right to your opinion, but please! It’s the people in the republican party who will only support people who believe 100% like they do are the downfall of the party. We have several candidates who are 90% in line with the party line and people like you would rather see democrats win. Really, get a clue!
Connecticut has 25% registered republicans. For those who are challenged in math, that means we have to find 26% from the moderates, independents and blue dog democrats. A moderate candidate has a much better chance!

The CT GOP has had the worst results of any state party over the last few election cycles. In the face of a conservative “wave” sweeping the nation in 2010, the CT GOP lost its last House seat as well as the governorship, because they fielded poor candidates and a murky message, again. They need to blow up the current leadership and focus on long term strategies to educate young voters to the beauty of conservative principles.
Regardless of the State Central conventions last week, Chris Healy seems bent on leading this ship right to the bottom of the Atlantic. When applying for a job, you normally show up with a list of accomplishments and a proven record of success that will make you a good fit for the job. Thus far, Healy has only been able to make us a laughingstock, while pointing to a few victories in…be still my heart…the State House of Representatives!! If you make the same meal over and over again and it’s consistently awful, then you change some ingredients. The way things are going, we need to sweep Healy, Marx, and all the 2nd Vice-Chairs out – and fast. Let’s not let 2012 leave us feeling on the outside looking in the way it was in 2010.
On Nov 3rd, 6 months ago, conservatives across the country were celebating victories in blue states that had turned red. Not here in CT we remained a blue state and one shade deeper given the election of Gov Dan Malloy.
If Healy is re-elected we can expect to continue our loosing streak.
No more RINOs at the the state GOP and No More RINOs on the ballot….please!! Keep running RINOs and we’ll keep loosing. Voters want the opposite of a moderate they want conservative candidates.
Shame on those party leaders, Dennis Cleary of Wolcott and Bill Jenkins of Chaplin, that gave money to the our opponents. It is even harder to win when we put up moderates and then fund the other side of the ticket.
The best choice for the Republicans is Justin Clark. He’s the only one who achieved any form of “success” this past fall, and will make the party leadership both younger and smarter. Each of the other contenders has warts: in a year of Republican gains across the country, Healy did nothing but lose in Connecticut. Aniskovich has many, many skeletons and Hageman is a street fighter but not a state party leader.
Clark has ties to the Foley money machine and to the party nationally, and will bring in the bucks — which is exactly what the Republicans need to turn this ship around.
@RINO, Republicans went 0 for the entire statewide ticket last year. Healy was too busy protecting Linda McMahon to cover for his wife’s salary. Any person with integrity would have stepped down from Chairman. The party is broken. Rush Limbaugh stated that CT Republicans are the most demoralized in the nation.
@Happy Conservative, the problem is the party continually ignores the base and promotes socially liberal and anti-gun and supporters of bigger government and voters for tax increases as candidates. Jayme Stevenson, recipient of Republican Woman of the Year at the Bush Dinner stood up and said how the party needs to get past the social issues. Pro-Lifers are 40% of the state. Great idea to ignore them.
CT has just over 20% Republican, not 25 and the number is shrinking.
Your”moderate” position has no factual foundation in anything in reality. Republicans lose by being liberal and Democrat lite. Look at the results.
The party is on its last breath. A Healy re-election is its death.
Rob, you and your ilk have to give it up. It’s not Healy’s fault that you mishandled the primary. His wife got a job with the other camp. Big deal. That isn’t why you aren’t Senator. Accept your part in the loss and move on.
Big deal that Healy’s wife got a job w/ the McMahon campaign during the convention/primary battle? If you don’t see that as a conflict, than you’ve got to get some new glasses. You don’t think that Healy had a stake in making sure his wife’s employer got past the primary? How much longer do you think that his wife would have been making that big salary had Linda lost last May, or in August?? Get real. You Healy apologists are sickening. Simmons should accept HIS part for the loss? What about Healy accepting his role for ALL of the losses we faced in 2010? We’ll wait patiently for that one.
any idiot out there that thinks chris healy is powerful enough or holds (held) enough clout to sway not only a convention but also a primary is giving the guy way 2 much credit. rob simmons can take his voting record along with the phony tea bag that he carries around and call it a day.
