Closer to the truth: Judge grants gas companies’ motion to depose Gillett and Govert in op-ed mystery.

Two natural gas utilities have won a complete victory in their quest to determine the roles of PURA Chairperson Marissa Gillett and Chief of Staff Theresa Govert in the writing of an anti-utility screed that appeared in the CT Mirror on December 19th.

Judge Matthew J. Budzik ruled Wednesday that the companies may together depose Gillett and Govert separately in the next within the next 15 days.

Gillett in a text exchange with state Representative Jonathan Steinberg (D-Westport) on December 15th, Gillett wrote she had finished her draft of an op-ed and was waiting for Govert to review it.

Gillett, an opponent of the Freedom of Information Act, disclosed though the Office of the Attorney General that the personal mobile phone on which she texted Steinberg automatically deleted the public documents after 30 days.
