Conroy to Baker.
Connecticut Republican campaign operative Jim Conroy is off to Massachusetts for Charlie Baker redux. Baker came second in a close-run race in his 2010 contest with incumbent Governor Deval Patrick in a three-way competition. Patrick is not seeking a third term.
Conroy worked on former U.S. Representative Rob Simmon’s erratic campaign for the 2010 Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. Conroy nearly heaved former Lt. Governor Michael Fedele over the finish line first in the 2010 Republican primary for governor against former U.S. ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley.
Conroy had been lending a hand to Republican Mark Boughton’s exploratory campaign for governor that the Danbury mayor recently launched.
