Governor M. Jodi Rell uses the final Bond Commission of her administration to confirm her flight from reality. Friday’s meeting will feature $1 million for Connecticut Public Broadcasting. In an age of almost limitless viewing and listening choices, there’s no reason for taxpayers to be borrowing $1 million to give to a local broadcaster. There’s nothing more notable or virtuous in Rick Steves’ Europe than the programming on The Discovery Channel. Why should thousands of senior citizens on fixed incomes, for example, pay taxes to underwrite a broadcasting operation in a competitive business?
Jerry Franklin, president and CEO of Connecticut Public Broadcasting, received $357,170 in compensation in 2009, according to the Hartford Business Journal.

Let’s get this straight. The state is billions in the hole and Jodi’s departing shot is to borrow more money to support pet projects and reward her supporters. It is enough to make you sick. She has done a pathetic job. Good riddens.
Obnoxious. How much of this goes to Matt Hennessey and lobbying operations to get more taxpayer cake?
The Rell is totally disinterested and apparently not concerned of how history will treat her. This has been clear, Ct can do better. I have to wonder how much better the GOP would have done without Rell and Healy at the helm at the local level.
