Dan Roberti Bulks Up in 5th.
Start spreading the news, fundraising wiz Dan Roberti announced his campaign team this morning. The statement was released through big dog senior advisor Dan Kelly. Roberti, of Kent, Connecticut and New York, New York, is seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress in the 5th district.
Putnam Partners will create Roberti’s media mojo in the crowded race. Direct mail will come from Gumbiner and Davies. Ashley Sulewski and Bob Blanchard will raise money and perform other tasks on the campaign as it continues to take shape. Blanchard, like Kelly, is a veteran of Democrat and Working Families Governor Dannel P. Malloy’s 2010 winning campaign.
Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner Research will conduct polling.
These are top tier Democratic consulting firms, though Greenberg’s credibility took a pounding in late 2009 when he insisted his polling results showed embattled Senator Christopher Dodd could win a 5th term. Dodd withdrew from the race a few weeks later. Greenberg is married to U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro. She often backs candidates who hire her husband.
Roberti’s announcement will cause a chorus of the blues to emanate from the rival camp of Speaker of the House Christopher Donovan on the final day of the legislative session.

Just once it would be refreshing to see a candidate spend some of the campaign’s money IN the state of CONNECTICUT
Looks like this guy may just be the next 5th district congressman!
Take a moment and think before declaring that this candidacy is serious. It’s the kid of a DC insider who can pass out photos of James Carvile and other names of hired guns. Pay them and you have them. Won’t be elected. Won’t beat Donovan in a primary.
What bothers me is candidates who don’t create jobs in the 5th District AND raise their money outside of the district as well. This guy has plenty of out of state support. We don’t need another congressman who owes plenty of people from outside of the district!
It would be nice to have a candidate who actually creates jobs in our district. Oh to dream… A candidate who actually walks the walk! That candidate is Lisa Wilson-Foley!
How does someone like Donovan get elected in the 5th? He doesn’t fit the district well.
This has been a big concern among Dem party insiders.
