Hamden Mayor ends re-election campaign for third term. Garrett faced long odds for Democratic nomination.

Mayor Lauren Garrett told her staff Tuesday that she is abandoning her campaign for a third term. The Hamden Democrat would likely have competed in a September primary as a challenger.

Garrett began the campaign on January 13th and has attracted an array of opponents, including her 2023 Democratic primary opponent, Walter L. Morton IV.

Republican Jonathan Katz, a 24 year old paralegal, is expected to win his party’s nomination.
