Hartford Democratic Town Committee Nominates Segarra in Romp.

Mayor Pedro Segarra won a convincing victory in the Hartford Democratic Town Committee nominating meeting. Segarra, who replaced corrupt former mayor Eddie Perez last summer, won 51 votes. Edwin Vargas received 6 votes, J. Stan McCauley garnered 4, and 6 members abstained.

Segarra cleared the field of serious threats to the town committee nomination by chasing state Representative Kelvin Roldan–a Perez acolyte, and Hartford lawyer Shawn Wooden from the field.

Roldan, who had a close call in a legislative primary last summer, is seeking the nomination for treasurer. Wooden wants a spot on the party’s city council slate.

Voting continues.
