You know the type. Connecticut is familiar with the damage inflicted on individuals by the power of eminent domain. The story, starring victorious Maria Aposporos, is pitched to emphasize the emerging Foley campaign theme of portraying Dan Malloy as an arrogant bruiser. The Greenwich Republican won’t have many more opportunities to close the stubborn gap in independent polls that show Dan Malloy with a steady single-digit lead. It may already be too late.

No, the commercial will not be as effective as Bibb. Eminent Domain is so 2005.
Factual or not, the Bibb commercials strike right at the core of the single most important issue in this election; jobs. The commercial resonates for voters, many of whom are likely fearful of losing their own jobs.
The plain fact of the matter is that there aren’t too many people who worry frequently about losing their homes. And the reforms passed in the wake of Kelo ensure that most citizens who have their property eminent domain’d are not going to just get twenty cents on the dollar… in fact they’d likely do quite well.
Eminent domain may have played well during the real estate boom. But there’s too many people drowning in AR mortgages right now who would love for the government to make an offer on their home.

There are plenty of people who are worried about losing their homes or businesses, but for other reasons.
Not bad, but if that is his “October surprise” he is in deep and serious trouble.
Tom Foley has done everything in his power to paint Dan Malloy – one of the most decent people I’ve ever met – as a liar, a bully, and a crook. This is desperation from an inept and unqualified egomaniac who simply wants to be elected to something. How else does he explain jumping between the Senate and gubernatorial races? Does he want the opportunity to tackle the tough issues Connecticut is facing or does he just want an impressive title?
Shame on you, Tom Foley. Count me among the many Republicans very eager to elect Dan Malloy as our governor.

He comes across a bit desperate and strikes me as someone who has “bought” his way into many things.
We really don’t need another politician like that.
People are way more worried about losing jobs than eminent domain.
