In This Corner: Fightin’ Dan Malloy.
Democratic and Working Families Governor-Elect Dan Malloy made a bigger impression in Washington yesterday than he may have expected. Reviews of his speech to the Democratic Leadership Council criticizing the Obama administration’s communication skills were not good. The National Journal declared, “Malloy leveled a blistering critique of the White House communications effort on nearly every major issue of the last two years, from bailouts to the foreclosure crisis.” Politico followed with a pan from an unnamed Democratic critic.
On the spectrum of blunt candor and nodding loyalty, we get vivid looks at where Malloy likes to nestle. Tuesday provided one to an audience beyond Connecticut. It seemed misplaced and clumsy. The president, after all, gave a boost to Connecticut Democrats with an October 30th visit to Bridgeport, which three days later helped heave Malloy over the finish line first. Malloy shouldn’t have been surprised at the attention he garnered with his critical comments. The obligatory praise of a Democratic president by a Democratic governor-elect was never going to get noticed. The criticism, however, was certain to make a splash–or at least a splatter.
Malloy may be reminded of the incident by Democrats in the Connecticut legislature, whose help he will soon need, when they criticize and cavil at the messy changes he’ll have to propose in his “jobs budget” in February.

Alas, we may have to get used to some of this–I am not sure that grace and aplomb are our Governor elect’s strong suit–some of us will have to practice patience–
Tom Foley: ICE CREAM WHINING.
Foley put an editorial in the Sunday paper, saying “Ice cream for everyone!” It was a not so clever way of dissing his elected opponent, Malloy. Mr. Foley needs to give it up, it’s over, he lost. He’s a loser. Unfit to serve, as one columnist put it.
Tom Foley wasted $11Million BUCKS trying to buy an election. He is finished, washed up, yesterday’s news. Just another rich plutocrat who thinks the rules don’t apply to him. A self-funded elitist ego trip. Out of touch with the average voter. He failed big in this election, and as a result he will be “The Failed Rich Guy” in the future too.
If he runs again for anything, his opponents will quickly remind the unwashed poor masses about Foley’s arrests, ugly divorce, huge layoffs, Bibb bankruptcy, faked Federal security clearance, Bush cronyism and fundraising, $9 Million mansion, $10 Million 116-foot yacht, and so forth. Squirming on national TV about the thin victory that Malloy won. He looked weak, not a fighter, other than through lawyers like all Corporate Raiders do. All those expensive TV ads still could not buy Tom Foley the votes. And he covered up his arrests until the Hartford Courant outed him on it! Many people outright distrust him, still.
Just like yesterday’s newspaper, folded up and tossed on the trash heap. A chronic election loser, just like Ned Lamont, another rich guy in Greenwich who keeps trying to buy elections.
$11 Million bucks worth of ICE CREAM. How dumb. Even within his own Republican party, which desperately needs fresh leadership, not failed rich guys, Tom Foley is finished.
