Janet Peckinpaugh, Delegate

Connecticut television news veteran Janet Peckinpaugh will join the Essex delegation at the state Republican convention in May. The anchor/reporter turned media consultant joined the GOP last month.

She’s helping to guide her friend Lisa Wilson-Foley’s campaign for lieutenant governor. Wilson-Foley is a new Republican too. The pair will enliven town committee meetings around the state.

Let’s just say that her appearance in Enfield was a non-starter. People were under-impressed with her presentation and ability to answer questions about public policy.

Hint: Enfield is the wrong place for candidates to tout their credentials as social liberals. That is equally true for GOP and Democratic candidates.

What was Janet Peckinpaugh before she was a republican? Why run for such a high office, so recently after becoming a republican? Why not run for the city council or something local before running for the 2nd highest state office?
