Jarjura Likely to Primary for Comptroller.

Waterbury Mayor Michael Jarjura said this afternoon that he “more likely than not” will force an August 10th primary for the Democratic nomination for comptroller.  Democratic delegates to the state convention gave their endorsement to state insurance advocate Kevin Lembo.  The nomination became competitive a few days before the late May convention when incumbent Nancy Wyman announced she would seek the party’s nomination for lieutenant governor.  Wyman endorsed Lembo, her former subordinate in the state’s bureaucracy.

The third candidate Democratic candidate for comptroller, state Representative Tom Reynolds, declined to seek a primary after losing to Lembo at the convention.

Jarjura will emphasize his budget experience garnered during 9 years of leading Waterbury from the maw of financial ruin.

Lembo shines for his proven commitment to the public, his seriousness of purpose, his experience, and his unquestioned honesty. In that light, I’m really not sure what his opponents (in either party) have to offer.
