Jarjura to Reach Public Funding Threshold Tonight.
Mayor Michael Jarjura, Democratic hopeful for state comptroller, expects to have raised $75,000 in small contributions by the end of the day. The Waterbury challenger in the August 10th holds a fundraising event at Testo’s in Bridgeport tonight that he thinks will provide enough lettuce to get him into the land of public financing. If the state’s election agency confirms that Jarjura’s reached the magic number, he’ll get $375,000 to wage a primary battle against endorsed candidate Kevin Lembo, who has not yet qualified for public funds.
UPDATE: Jarjura will submit his full application for public financing this afternoon.

Wow, Kevin Lembo could be in big trouble. He really needs to submit quite a bit of time before July 16th unless he went way over the $75K.

Orchulli did indeed file an intent to abide so at this point, he appears to be a participating candidate. I’m sorry I didn’t check first before asking.
What in the world will $375,000 do for Jarjura or any candidate for this office?
