Judge Chatigny Redux

The Senate Judiciary Committee will have another go at the nomination of U.S. District Judge Robert Chatigny on Wednesday when it again considers his nomination to the Second Circuit.  Judge Chatigny ran into heavy weather earlier this year when his heavy-handed intervention to save serial killer Michael Ross from execution became the focus of his nomination.  He made it through the Judiciary Committee but languished on the Senate calendar for months.  Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) took a powder on Chatigny and didn’t vote in the Judiciary Committee the first time.  What she does this time may suggest the state of the weather among Democrats. Resurgent Republicans have no reason to capitulate on their opposition to the nomination of the Dodd favorite.
