Leave These Things to the Professionals.
Daily Ructions offers a cautionary tale for civilians outside the news business on the spreading of stories and the use of voicemail. It’ll have to be as a blind item, but the lesson is one for this modern age. It involves three colleagues at an important government institution.
Colleague A (for Altruistic following thwarted Ambition) confided a big development to Colleague B (for Boss, sort of) that would soon be announced. A asked B not to repeat the news. B agreed, but weakened a few days later. Unable to keep the tasty secret, B decided to tell Colleague C (for Chatterbox), whose relationship with A is not good. Not good at all, though it once was close, even chummy.
B called C to share the news. That’s not right. B tried to call C, even thought she had called C. B left the newsy message on a voicemail with one of those stock, generic messages–A’s. Oops. A was not well-pleased to hear B blurting out the confidence in a fumbled bid to reach C, the notorious Chatterbox, on A’s voicemail. This will not be forgotten.
Don’t be a B. Call someone in the news. Email Daily Ructions. Call Jon Lender. Leave a note for Dennis House. We know how to disseminate this information in an efficient manner without your fingerprints.
