Lembo Qualifies for Public Funds, Sets Up Brawl With Jarjura.
Democratic candidate for state comptroller Kevin Lembo made a come from behind dash to the public financing trough, raising $75,000 in contributions of $100 or less. This sets up a fierce contest with Waterbury Mayor Michael Jarjura, who announced last week he’d qualified for the taxpayer-financed bonanza. Jarjura’s Bridgeport announcement spurred Lembo and his supporters to increase their fundraising efforts.
Lembo and Jarjura have engaged in some intense exchanges over their supporters, records, and stands on social issues. This will be one to watch.
