Lessons in Corruption from New York.
New York state Senator Carl Kruger provided some lessons this week in what not to do when caught at the center of a political corruption scandal. On Monday, Kruger, under investigation for taking bribes, made more than 2 dozen phone calls to the lobbyist who was among those suspected of paying the bribes. Kruger was redialing while the lobbyist, Richard Lipsky, was being questioned by FBI agents searching his Manhattan home.
Kruger, a Brooklyn Democrat, and other defendants presented themselves in federal court Thursday morning. He departed in a limousine. The New York Post shows its eye for the details. The New York Times was more restrained, though the house Kruger shares with his co-defendant, intimate friend, and business partner suggest they were living a garish life at home.
Health care executives are among the defendants accused of financing the schemes.
