Malloy Strafes Foley in New Ad: “Greedy Businessman Ruined Our Economy. Why Would We Trust One to Fix It?”
Democrat Dan Malloy answers Republican Tom Foley’s criticism of his record as mayor of Stamford and then fires back with The Bibb in a new television ad. The ad declares Mr. Malloy’s record in 14 years leading Stamford included creating jobs and keeping taxes down. It them takes a sharp turn from the sunny uplands to the dark recesses of the textile trade, claiming the former ambassador bought it in the 1980s, fired workers, took $20 million out of it and launched it into bankruptcy.
It’s a hard hitting opening shot at Mr. Foley, but not as stark as what Republican Lieutenant Governor Michael Fedele unleashed on the Greenwich businessman during their bitter summer primary battle.

Dan Malloy is best remembered for creating the sanctuary zone along the I95 corridor in Stamford for illegal aliens to hide after creating a crime. It was a sanctuary of protection where the police and other law enforcement officials could not go. Could a white person accused of a crime go there and be protected?
Mike Fedele may have inadvertently done Tom Foley a favor by running his Bibb commercials during the primary. Some of the folks in those commercials seemed to feel misused, and I would imagine that others did not enjoy getting hounded by reporters afterward and accused by Foley of being bought out with a “sumptuous lunch.” Bottom line: It would be very difficult to replicate those commercials now. Mike Fedele found the few workers willing to participate, and now they are likely loathe to repeat the experience.
We have yet to see a commercial attacking Foley for (1) either of his driving incidents, (2) his responses on his security clearance forms or (3) his conduct in Iraq. My money would be on a Malloy produced commercial regarding option 2.
