Malloy, Wyman and Segarra Invite Lobbyists and Clients to May 3rd PAC Fundraiser.
Appearances matter nothing to Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman when they raise money. The two will be joined by Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra at a Hartford event for Malloy’s PAC, Prosperity for Connecticut, at May 3rd event. Lobbyists have received the invitation to the event to be held just six days before the end of the legislative session, when Malloy’s staff will be working to support or kill legislation. The message is clear.
The event features a $500 ticket price and will be held at the Hartford home of stalwart Democratic fundraiser Joan Hurwit. The invitation helpfully points out that the maximum contribution is $750 per person.
Malloy may want to reconsider using Boston consultant Ben Jospehson, of O’Neill and Associates, to helm the logistics of the dubious event. A Connecticut firm would be more likely to spell his name right on the email accompanying the invitations. “Dannell”? Do we need to lard some taxpayer money on the PAC to get it to bring the job to Connecticut? A committee called Prosperity for Connecticut ought to be hiring locally.
What has happened to Nancy Wyman? There was a time when she would have excoriated a fundraising ploy like this. Now she sponsors it.
