Mark Greenberg Makes Contribution Confession.

Fifth District Republican competitor Mark Greenberg made a political contribution to a Democrat that may gain him votes in the crowded race.  His campaign tells Daily Ructions that Greenberg gave money to Joseph Lieberman in his 1988 race against Republican incumbent United States Senator Lowell P. Weicker, Jr.

Weicker formed A Connecticut Party to run for governor 2 years after losing to Lieberman. In 2006, Republicans again helped push Lieberman across the finish line first when they stampeded to support him in his independent bid for a fourth term after losing the Democratic primary to Ned Lamont.

Greenberg’s 1988 contribution to Lieberman may help the Litchfield real estate developer snag some support among delegates with long memories and the sort of lashes the one-time conservative Vietnam War supporter continues to delight in inflicting on Republicans.
