Monday Momentum? Foley Takes Narrow Lead in Q-Poll. Survey Includes Numbers From a Week Ago.
Republican Tom Foley has chugged his way to a 3-point lead in this morning’s Quinnipiac survey of 930 likely voters. The Greenwich business man leads former Stamford mayor Dannel Malloy 48% to 45%.
The poll finds Attorney General Richard Blumenthal leading Republican Linda McMahon by 9 points, down 2 from the previous survey.
Today’s Quinnipiac survey should be viewed with caution. It suggests some volatility, particularly among independent voters. If that’s accurate, a significant portion of the poll is based on stale numbers. The poll was conducted from last Monday, October 25th through Halloween. If the poll id correct that Foley has momentum in the race for governor and McMahon is enjoying a late “mini surge,” as the poll’s director Doug Schwartz says, it could have started as much as a week ago and built or been arrested. Parts of the sample are so old in end-of-campaingn-time that it’s difficult to know.

Malloy Wins Over Foley. I have SUCH a problem when I see a super-rich man like Mr. Foley spending $11 Million, more than most of us will see in a lifetime, trying to “buy” an election. He has never held public office, and thinks he can use his questionable background to be a GOVERNOR???? I think that use of his wealth is obscene, and it makes me question his true agenda. Meantime, Dan Malloy, despite his many flaws, seems to truly have a “serve the people” agenda. Foley appears to have a “serve Mr. Foley” agenda. And to my personal liking, Mr. Foley still needs to more fully explain his arrests and the big layoffs mess at Bibb Corporation. If he wins, his critics will never let him hear the end of those past ghosts. If Malloy wins, Dan will have a decent shot at being successful because he knows the ropes on working in the complicated and raucous CT political scene. Malloy wins, all the way to Hartford.
