More Haunting Video From Ned Lamont’s Big Year.
YouTube can become a nuisance to a candidate who’s changed his mind about the importance of debates in a campaign. The Malloy campaign has found a video of cheerful challenger Ned Lamont calling on Senator Joseph Lieberman to travel the state engaging in old fashion “kitchen table debates.” Lieberman declined, though the two did have a televised confrontation during their epic summer primary battle.
Democrat Dan Malloy wants a debate in every community with a daily newspaper, which would mean 17 Malloy-Lamont confrontations before the August 10th Democratic primary for governor. This might not have the effect on voter turnout that Malloy intends, but I understand his point.
Lamont, on the other hand, is not so enthusiastic. He liked the idea of many debates more four years ago when he was the underdog against 3-term incumbent Lieberman.

I think it would be great to have some real debates betweeen the two dem candidates before then the feild was so crowded that nothing was discussed in depth leaving the public with sound bites and buzz words Malloy is right!!! Not suprised about Lamont attitude. He’ changed? WHY?
A debate is equivalent to a job interview — voters should demand them of all candidates running for office as part of the education and vetting process. It is a shame and a huge disservice to voters when candidates opt out.
Lamont is a simply a rich guy being told how to play politics. That’s why he’s predictable. He’s bored being rich (that’s why he’s only figured out how to bring cable tv to college campuses). If CT elects him, it will get what it deserves (as it has the last several years).
