Murphy Makes It a Million + in First Campaign Finance Report.
Congressman Christopher Murphy sailed past the $1 million mark in his first quarter of campaign fundraising for the 2012 Democratic nomination for the United States Senate. His campaign says 85% of the contributions were from Connecticut and 70% were for $100 or less. We’ll know more when campaign reports are available later this month. Murphy’s take is more than double what Susan Bysiewicz, his only announced rival for the nomination, says she raised during the same period.
While $1 million is a lot of lettuce in a Connecticut campaign, notions of what it takes were altered last year when Republican Linda McMahon spent $50 million of her vast fortune against fellow Greenwich plutocrat Richard Blumenthal. In the crunch as McMahon closed a 41 point gap, Blumenthal was able to reach into his $100 million pile and lend his campaign a big chunk of change to keep up with McMahon. Neither Murphy nor Bysiewicz is going to be able to that.

From where did Murphy get the money. Did he get it from Daily Kooks? Moveon.org? ACORN? SEIU? The Lippo Group? John Huang? Charlie Trie? The ambulance chasing trial lawyers?
Some interest tied to George Soros? You can learn a lot about someone by who gives them money. I’m sure the who’s who of liberal special interests love their hero Chris Murphy. They know his true ideological bearings better than most Connecticut voters.
