Paging Ned Lamont.
It’s hard to see how Attorney General Richard Blumenthal survives his false claim to have served in Vietnam. One thing we’ve learned in watching the scandals that have plagued Connecticut politics for more than a decade is that there’s always more. Blumenthal’s great dilemma today is that he knows what he’s said in many appearances in many years of traveling around Connecticut. What he can’t know is who else knows it. That will be his great torment.
Ned Lamont knows how to run an outsider’s race for the United States Senate. Inserting him into the Democratic nomination on Friday night would allow the Democrats to run a candidate who’s got experience in a high profile, intense campaign. He’s also shown he’s willing to spend the money a campaign requires.
Watch who steps forward to offer a full-throated defense of Blumenthal–and who does not.

Powerlineblog.com said it best: give McMahon credit for knowing how to fight a cage match. Blumenthal’s always avoided political campaigns that weren’t a walk (twice passed on running for Gov), so I think he doesn’t have it in him to weather this one. Dems are getting concerned he’d be a Coakley in pants.

The first one to throw Blumenthal under the bus is apparently Dan Malloy.
What a surprise. You won’t find character or honor in the Democrat party anymore, I think it died out with the last WWII vet to serve as a Democrat.
what about running Susan? looks like she isn’t in the AG race anymore
If Linda McMahon is going to spend all of that money on opposition research, does anyone really think she’d release her best story this early in the campaign? Her goal was to wound, not destroy Blumenthal.
Her world is wrestling and wrestling is nothing more than marketing. To think that her marketing team doesn’t have more dirt on Blumenthal and specific timelines for release is naive.
This is going to be a long summer for Blumenthal.
Is Blumenthal dead? He would be is he was a Republican since we have standards. Did you see anyone stick up for Rowland when he was caught lying? You sure didn’t see Rob Simmons do that. He came out very early calling for him to resign.
The Party of Clinton on the other hand is an entirely different matter. I would not put it past them to try to bulldoze the filthy liar through anyhow hoping the story will die.
And it might if we run anyone but Rob Simmons, a real Vietnam Veteran with not asterisks or fine print. He was really there!
