Rasmussen Finds Race For Governor on a Knife Edge.

Could Dan Malloy get caught in another tide?  The former Stamford mayor was on the ballot next to United States Senator Joseph Lieberman in the 2006 Democratic primary when the Ned Lamont for Senate surge in the 2006 Democratic primary helped pull New Haven mayor John DeStefano across the finish line first in the primary for governor. This time Malloy faces a rising Republican tide that has Republican Tom Foley closing in with a week left in the campaign, according to the latest Rasmussen survey of the race.

Republican internal campaign polls confirm that the race continues to be tight.  One wild card: How much will Foley benefit from Republican Linda McMahon’s GOTV operation?  McMahon has ID’d a lot of voters, not something Connecticut Republicans usually do.  They may not be enough for her to defeat Democrat Richard Blumenthal, but they could make the difference for Foley, as polling suggests that a McMahon voter is likely to also support the former ambassador to Ireland.
