Red Light Camera Scam: Where Are the Republican Mayors?

Monday’s Transportation Committee public hearing on the red light camera bill provides an opportunity for the state’s Republican mayors to show if they are freedom’s friends or avaricious collectors of other people ‘s money. They often mouthed the pieties of smaller, less intrusive government, Monday at 10 a.m. will provide evidence if they mean it.

The bill hands law enforcement over to private entities, upends traditional notions of evidence and proof, and makes oodles of dough for municipalities on the backs of the poor. It is the heavy hand of government in a chilling form.
