Rell: I Wasn’t Invited to Malloy Inauguration.
A source close to outgoing Governor M. Jodi Rell tells Daily Ructions that the governor is battling back in the face of reports that she won’t be attending today’s swearing-in of Democratic and Working Families Governor-elect Dannel Malloy. Rell says she won’t be there because she wasn’t invited. A report on WFSB Tuesday late Tuesday afternoon mentioning that Rell would be a no-show at the big event prompted the Brookfield Republican to call the station and air her side of the invitation brouhaha. Others close to the governor fanned out last night and this morning to spread the news of a steaming Rell’s side of the curious dustup.
Reached this morning, Malloy communications chief Roy Occhiogrosso said that of course Rell had been invited to Malloy’s swearing-in and they have an exchange of emails to show it. They’d still be delighted to have her there. We’ll know in a few hours if the 6 1/2 year veteran who declined to seek another term in 2010 will accept her final invitation as governor.
