Rell Unveiling on September 11th.

Former Governor M. Jodi Rell’s official portrait will be unveiled on September 11th. The event will take place at the State Library and Supreme Court building on Capitol Avenue at 3:30 p.m. on that solemn day of remembrance.

Rell, Connecticut’s 87th governor, held the office for six and a half years, beginning on July 1, 2004, the date felonious former Governor John G. Rowland’s resignation became effective. The Brookfield Republican won a landslide bid for a full term in 2006. In 2007, she  declared an education emergency and stunned supporters by proposing a hefty tax increase. Rell appeared to lose interest in the job, retreating to a quiet life of “reading days” long before her term drew to a close.
