Republican Herbst to Explore Statewide Run.

Popular Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst will soon launch an exploratory committee for an unspecified office, Daily Ructions has learned. Herbst begins with hundreds of loyal campaign donors from his previous campaigns, including his landslide re-election to a third term leading Trumbull in November.

Herbst’s entering the 2014 competition for statewide office is bad news for Democratic State Treasurer Denise Nappier, who announced last week she will seek a fifth term.
