Shhhh, Don’t Tell Joette or Elin Katz. They’ll Want One, Too. Daily News Nabs NY Judge Abusing Parking Pass.

The New York Daily News finds Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Eileen Bransten abusing her state-issued parking pass. It’s one more tale of a government official with an oversized sense of automotive entitlement. As is often the case, the offending holder of a public trust ran for cover when asked about the abuses she was caught committing.

In Connecticut, public utilities consumer advocate Elin Katz, of West Hartford, was caught parking in a space reserved for people with disabilities for nearly a year. Didn’t want to get any dings her new SUV, she explained through a spokesman.

Commissioner of the Department of Children and Families Joette Katz, a former state high court judge, stored her BMW convertible at a state parking garage for the winter–and then lashed out at the state employee who reported the abuse. One of those New York parking passes would have come in handy for Katz during the years she owned an Upper West Side apartment with Stamford lawyer Ernest Teitell. Parking spaces for the public are not easy to find on Broadway. It would have surpassed the perk of making a subordinate walk your dog at the office.
