Simmons Spokesman Available to Return–If He’s Made Bail.
As retired state employee and former congressman Rob Simmons chafes to make a formal return to the campaign he said he suspended in May, he’ll need to put together a team from his disbursed staff. Lucky for Simmons that campaign spokesman Raj Shah’s work for New Mexico Republican gubernatorial candidate Susana Martinez ended in the middle of the night last weekend. Shah was arrested for aggravated drunk driving and careless driving in Albuquerque early Sunday morning. The Martinez campaign fired him the same day.
Shah was still in jail on Monday morning. He returns to court on August 12th, two days after the Connecticut primary.
Do you think Shah will remember his ordeal in 29 years.

No Kevin, I don’t think he will remember this event 29 years from now. A friend of mine was arrested in another state back in 1985 for a minor charge (disorderly person). Her case was not prosecuted. I asked her if she could remember who was in the car with her that night, she honestly couldn’t. I asked her if she could remember the name of the police officers involved, she couldn’t. I asked her if she could remember the name of the judge, she couldn’t. I asked her if she could remember the name of the attorney she hired to handle things for her, she couldn’t.
Did your pompous, arrogant ass ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe people (either consciously or subconsciously) honestly don’t remember unpleasant experiences in their lives?
I went through a divorce a number of years back and is was very emotional and hurtful and Kevin, I honestly cannot remember many of the details and quite frankly, I’m glad I don’t because all it would do would be to bring back painful memories.
And I’ve already forgotten almost every unpleasant, painful grunt from that last comment. By George, he’s right!
Wow Rennie, you’re a real jerk. How about the Executive Director of the Republican Governors Association who had a DUI arrest, or the former President of the United States. DUIs are no laughing matter. zBut no one is perfect, and redemption is real. Hopefully Foley, Chris Healy and this Simmons kid all fix their problems and are redeemed.
Rennie, Grow up. This post is inexcusable. I have had the pleasure of meeting Raj on a number occasions and he is a terrific person. And guess what- he’s not running for office, nor was he involved with any Connecticut campaign when this occurred. I cannot believe you would stoop so low as to attack a FORMER staffer for a youthful indiscretion. You cannot stop attacking Rob Simmons and his people. Maybe you disagreed with him on an issue when you served together (big deal) or maybe you wanted to be a Congressman and are a little jealous (you big baby). All I know is that every week in the Hartford Courant, they describe you as a “Former Republican Legislator”. Personally, I think they should stop at “Former Republican” you little weasel.

This is the sort of snide comment I expect from Colin McEnroe.It must be nice to never have done something when you were younger that you realize was stupid. Lying about your slim military record in the case of AG Blumenthal is ignored . And the media wonders why their influence is declining . The people want to know what the candidates plan to do to get us out of the fiscal death spiral the democratic house and senate have gotten us into,not the police record of an advisor or a 20+ year old charge that was never filed.
