Special Elections Results.
8:55 p.m. Democrats have held the Stamford Senate seat by 700 votes. Terry Gerratana has defeated Tim Stewart by 300 votes. Democrat Phil Miller beat Republican Janet Peckinpaugh for the House.
8:38 p.m. Democrats have held by 92 votes the East Haven House seat that incumbent Michael Lawlor gave up to take a full time job in the Malloy administration after winning re-election in November. Lawlor was elected to his first term in 1986.
8:32 p.m. Republican Len Suzio, Republican of Meriden, has won the state Senate seat given up by 7 term incumbent Thomas Gaffey, when he resigned to plead guilty to criminal charges in January. Republicans had not expected Suzio, who lost to Gaffey in November, to win the race in the overwhelmingly Democratic district.
8:30 p.m. Republican Janet Peckinpaugh is behind in her bid to win the House seat abandoned by Essex Democrat James Spallone. Peckinpaugh was defeated in a race for the U.S. House of Representatives in November.
8:25 p.m. Former State Representative Terry Gerratana appears to have defeated New Britain Mayor Tim Stewart in the race to fill the state Senate seat vacated by Democrat Donald DeFrono.
8:20 p.m. Republicans have picked up a seat in the House of Representatives in Madison and Guilford. Democrats have retained a House seat in West Hartford.
